GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This Push Boat Tug is an all welded steel inland vessel with a square bow and stern.  The tug is twin screw and diesel powered, constructed with a three (3) level all welded steel constructed deckhouse.

Main deck:

All the way forward is galley. Aft in the galley on the starboard side is the head.  Access to the galley is by two (2) four dog watertight steel doors, one each port and starboard side.  The doors are set on twelve (12) inch high coamings. 

Next aft is the engine room. Access to the engine room is by four (4) four dog watertight steel doors, one (1) each port and starboard side.  The doors are set on twelve (12) inch high coamings.

 Access is also from the Galley to the engine room by an aluminum door.

Second deck:

There is a two (2) men bunkroom forward of the stairwell.  The stairwell leads up to the wheelhouse and down to the galley. 

Third deck:

The wheelhouse which is accessed by two (2) two dog aluminum watertight doors one each port and starboard side.  

There is outside stairways and vertical ladders giving accesses to each deck.

The wheelhouse is equipped with an operators console across the front and is fitted with port and starboard steering and flanking rudder levers.  There is a set of engine and clutch air controls. 

There is a set of oil pressure; water temperature and gear oil pressure gauges for each engine.  There is a toggle switch and fuse panel for the running lights.  There is a fire alarm panel.

ENGINE ROOM:

Two (2) main engines- V 12-71 series Detroit Diesel engines, the engines are air started and grid cooled. Engines are provided with dry exhausts which run up through the vessel’s stacks. The exhaust pipes are well insulated.  Engines are coupled to Twin Disc 514 with a 6 to 1 marine reduction gears.  The shafts run through leak proof propeller glands.

Two (2) 30 KW generator set generator is driven by three (3) cylinder Detroit Diesel     engines model 3-71 series.  The port generator is electric started and the starboard generator is air started.

Two (2) Electric operated 1-1/2" bilge/fire pumps driven by a three (3) hp electric motor. 

One (l) Electric over hydraulic steering system equipped with two (2) approximately five (5)         horsepower electric motor that drives a hydraulic pump and set on top of an

approximately  40 gallons hydraulic oil storage tank.  

Two (2) two stage air compressors driven by approximately 5 hp electric motors

One (1) generator control panel and one (1) circuit breakers boxes

One (1) Marine sanitation device

One (1) Potable water pressure pumps driven by a 1/2" electric motor

One (1) 30 gallon electric water heater

The engine room was decked with aluminum diamond grid plating. 

EXTERNAL INSPECTION:

ATOP BRIDGE:

One (1) double trumpet air horn, with whistle light

One (1) set running lights adequate for class and service. Two (2) 10” incandescent search lights 

Main Deck:

The deck is encompassed with a double wall bulwarks approximately 24” high.  Note:  The bulwarks are heavily wasted.

Four (4) Double mooring bits two (2) each port and starboard aft

Two (2) electric operated makeup winches located on the bow

Two (2) approximately 12' high push knees and from the push knees and extending back to the    second deck is a fleet deck.  Push Knees are faced with rubber bumper pads.

One (1) "H" towing bit aft deck.

Adequate vents and fills for tanks are provided.

FIREFIGHTING AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT:

There were adequate number and type of approved fire extinguisher located throughout with current inspection tags.

Two (2) ring buoys with float lights

An adequate number of life preservers on board One (1) CO2 portable fire extinguisher with a 50' hose

RECOMMENDATIONS:      

  1. Add locks nuts to shafts stuffing box gland.
  2. Service the float lights to the life rings.
  3. The bulwarks and bow corners need to be replaced or repaired as necessary..

GENERAL CONDITION:

The vessel was in generally in fair condition with exception to the wasted bulwarks and both bow corners are wasted and indented.  The external coating was in fair condition.  The engine room bilges contained little oily water and the engine showed no excessive leakage.

It was reported that the vessel was last drydocked in 2015 having all underwater appurtenances reconditioned.

It was also reported that both main engines were replaced rebuilt engines in 2016 and Owner is preparing to make repairs in bulwarks.
